The Promise - live broadcast

THE PROMISE live from
the Royal Swedish Opera

This spring's perhaps most important opera premiere on the International Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Holocaust on January 27: The Promise is created for the Royal Swedish Opera in collaboration with composer Mats Larsson Gothe and librettist Susanne Marko, who is inspired by her own family's history. Together with our partner Folkets Hus och Parker, the European platform OperaVision and the Opera's own digital stage Operan Play, the world premiere will be broadcast live all over the world. One day we can all honor the victims and remind ourselves that we must always work for the evil to never gain a foothold and re-emerge in our society..

The Promise is the story of Ava who becomes separated from her husband, Teo, in a concentration camp. Determined to be reunited with her husband after the war, she travels through the ruins of a traumatised Europe in search of him. We accompany her on a journey that sways between dream and reality, hope and despair.

The Promise will be broadcast live on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 7 p.m. and you have the following opportunities to screen the performance:
